Phase VNegToGrnd

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

¿Qué significa 45 ?

A phase-to-ground fault has been detected between the drive and the motor on output phase V, specifically identifying a negative voltage transient or specific ground path. This indicates insulation breakdown or a short from output phase V to earth. This condition can damage the drive and motor if not quickly addressed, and poses an electrical safety risk.

Causas comunes

  • Insulation breakdown of the motor winding for phase V to the motor frame, potentially due to excessive vibration, chemical exposure, or thermal cycling.
  • Mechanical damage to the motor cable insulation for conductor V, causing it to contact grounded metalwork within cable routing.
  • Contamination (e.g., coolant, metallic debris) inside the motor terminal box, creating a ground path for phase V.
  • Missing or damaged protective earth (PE) conductor within the motor cable, causing phase V to find an alternate, unintended ground path through mechanical components.
  • Deterioration of internal insulation on phase V within the drive's output stage or its gate driver board, leading to a component-level ground fault.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

    1. Disconnect all motor power cables from drive output terminals U, V, W and disconnect motor frame ground (PE).

  2. 2

    2. Perform an insulation resistance test (Megger) between motor terminal V and motor frame ground (PE) at 500VDC for 60 seconds (expected reading: >1 MOhm).

  3. 3

    3. Inspect the motor cable for conductor V for any cuts, abrasions, or signs of overheating that could compromise insulation to ground.

  4. 4

    4. Check the motor terminal box for foreign objects, moisture, corrosion, or carbon paths bridging phase V to the grounded enclosure.

  5. 5

    5. Verify the continuity of the protective earth (PE) conductor within the motor cable from the motor frame to the drive's PE terminal (expected <0.1 Ohm).

  6. 6

    6. If motor and cable test good, measure insulation resistance between drive output terminal V and drive ground (PE) with a Megger (drive powered off, DC bus discharged) to check for an internal drive fault.
