Motor overload temperature

Danfoss · VLT HVAC Drive FC 102

¿Qué significa 10 ?

According to the electronic thermal protection (ETR), the motor is too hot. This fault occurs when the motor runs with more than 100% overload for an extended period. Unresolved motor overheating risks severe motor damage or premature failure.

Causas comunes

  • Motor operating continuously above 100% of its rated current, leading to excessive winding temperature.
  • Incorrect motor data (P1-20 to P1-25) programmed in the frequency converter, causing inaccurate thermal model calculations.
  • Insufficient motor cooling due to blocked ventilation fins, a faulty cooling fan, or high ambient operating temperature.
  • Mechanical overload on the motor shaft due to process issues, worn bearings, or misaligned coupling.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Measure the motor winding temperature directly using an infrared thermometer or an embedded RTD/thermistor if available.

  2. 2

Verify motor nameplate data (Voltage, Current, Frequency, RPM, Power Factor) is accurately entered into parameters P1-20 through P1-25.

  3. 3

Clear any obstructions from the motor's cooling fan and ventilation fins, and ensure adequate airflow in the motor's operating environment.

  4. 4

Measure the output current to the motor with a clamp meter during operation and compare it to the motor's rated current (P1-02).
