The compressor discharge temperature is abnormally high. This can be caused by insufficient refrigerant, a defective compressor discharge temperature sensor (THOD), or other system issues leading to compressor overheating and potential damage.

• Compressor discharge temperature sensor (ThOD, e.g., P18) is defective.
• System is critically low on refrigerant.
• Excessive heat load on the compressor.
• Faulty compressor cooling mechanism.
• High discharge pressure reducing cooling efficiency.

   Verify the refrigerant charge in the system using a manifold gauge set.

   Measure the resistance of the compressor discharge temperature sensor (THOD) and compare to specification.

   Inspect the condenser coil for obstructions or dirt, ensuring adequate airflow across the coil.

   Check for proper operation of the outdoor fan motor and fan blade integrity.
