Overtemp

Drive Overtemperature

Omron · SXF Inverter

¿Qué significa Overtemp ?

This fault signifies that the internal temperature of the VSD has exceeded its safe operating limits. This can result from insufficient cooling (e.g., blocked filters, fan failure), high ambient temperatures, or excessive motor load. Sustained high temperatures will degrade electronic components, potentially causing permanent damage or drive shutdown to protect itself from thermal stress.

Causas comunes

  • Blocked or dirty cooling air filters, severely restricting airflow through the VSD heatsink.
  • Failure of the VSD's internal cooling fan (e.g., seized bearings, broken blades, open motor winding).
  • High ambient temperature within the enclosure or control room exceeding the VSD's specified operating limit (e.g., >40°C).
  • Insufficient clearance or spacing between VSDs and other heat-generating components in the electrical panel.
  • Accumulation of dust and debris on the VSD heatsink fins, impeding efficient heat dissipation.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Clean or replace all cooling air filters on the VSD's intake and exhaust vents.

  2. 2

Verify VSD cooling fan operation by observing rotation and measuring fan motor voltage (e.g., 24VDC, 230VAC) at startup.

  3. 3

Measure the ambient temperature inside the VSD enclosure using a calibrated thermometer and ensure it is within specified limits.

  4. 4

Check for adequate clearance (e.g., 100mm top and bottom) around the VSD for proper airflow. Relocate equipment if necessary.

  5. 5

After disconnecting power, use compressed air to thoroughly clean dust and debris from the VSD heatsink and internal components.
