Ex-e protection operating mode

SEW Eurodrive · MCBSM

¿Qué significa F-35 ?

An incorrect operating mode or parameter set has been selected for an Ex-e motor application, or the frequency points or current limits are improperly configured. This fault is crucial for maintaining safety with explosion-protected motors, preventing operation under non-compliant or potentially hazardous conditions.

Causas comunes

  • Drive operating mode (e.g., P2-30, Motor Control Mode) not set to a specific 'Ex-e motor' or 'Explosion Proof Motor' mode required for certified operation.
  • Frequency limits (e.g., P1-09, Maximum frequency; P1-10, Minimum frequency) configured outside the permissible range for the Ex-e motor's safe operating envelope.
  • Motor current limits (e.g., P1-04, Motor rated current; P2-20, Overload current limit) set higher than the certified current for the connected Ex-e motor, risking overheating.
  • Motor thermal protection parameters (e.g., P2-18, Thermal overload model; P2-19, I²t time constant) incorrectly configured or disabled, compromising Ex-e certification.
  • Drive not recognized as compatible or certified for operation with the specific Ex-e motor, or parameters not adhering to the motor's ATEX/IECEx certificate.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Refer to the Ex-e motor's specific ATEX/IECEx certification documentation and the drive's manual for certified parameter settings for Ex-e applications.

  2. 2

Verify Parameter P2-30 (Motor Control Mode) is set to the correct operating mode specifically designated for Ex-e motors, if available, or a certified 'Vector Control' mode with appropriate limits.

  3. 3

Confirm that Parameter P1-09 (Maximum frequency) and P1-10 (Minimum frequency) are within the frequency range specified in the Ex-e motor's certification.

  4. 4

Check Parameter P1-04 (Motor rated current) and P2-20 (Overload current limit) to ensure they do not exceed the motor's certified maximum current rating (e.g., I_N).

  5. 5

Ensure motor thermal protection (P2-18, Thermal overload model; P2-19, I²t time constant) is enabled and correctly configured according to the Ex-e motor's specifications.

  6. 6

Verify that the drive itself is certified for use with Ex-e motors and that all required protective features (e.g., motor temperature monitoring, current limitation) are active and correctly parameterized.
