Frequency converter overtemperature

Vacon · NX All-in-One Application

¿Qué significa 14 ?

The heatsink temperature of the power unit has exceeded safe operating limits, specifically over 90 °C (194 °F), or 77 °C (170.6 °F) for NX_6 and FR6 series. An alarm triggers when the temperature surpasses 85 °C (185 °F), or 72 °C (161.6 °F). This indicates inadequate cooling or excessive internal heat generation, which can lead to component damage.

Causas comunes

  • Internal temperature of the frequency converter exceeds its safe operating limit.
  • Insufficient cooling of the converter (e.g., blocked fan, high ambient temperature).
  • Overload condition causing excessive heat generation within the converter.
  • Faulty temperature sensor within the converter.
  • Overvoltage or undervoltage transients affecting internal components.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Verify the operational status of all cooling fans within the drive and ensure unobstructed airflow through the heatsink cooling fins.

  2. 2

Visually inspect the heatsink for any accumulation of dust, lint, or debris, and thoroughly clean if necessary to improve thermal dissipation.

  3. 3

Measure the ambient air temperature directly surrounding the drive enclosure — ensure it remains within the drive's specified operating temperature range.

  4. 4

Review the drive's switching frequency parameter settings — consider reducing it if it is set too high in relation to the ambient temperature and motor load.
