Broken Wire Detection (Adv. Code 0)

Vacon · X4

¿Qué significa 23 ?

This fault indicates an open circuit detected in the potentiometer wiring used for control. When the potentiometer circuit opens, the drive loses its reference signal, which can lead to the motor stopping, uncontrolled acceleration, or unpredictable behavior. This is a safety feature to prevent erratic operation.

Causas comunes

  • Break in one of the potentiometer wires (e.g., 10V reference, analog input, common) due to mechanical stress or fatigue.
  • Loose or corroded connections at the potentiometer terminals or the drive's analog input terminals (e.g., AI1, GND, +10V).
  • Faulty potentiometer element (e.g., broken track, worn wiper) causing an open circuit.
  • Incorrect wiring scheme for the potentiometer (e.g., common wire not connected).
  • High electrical noise affecting the low-level analog signal, leading to erroneous open-circuit detection.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

    1. De-energize and lock out the drive. Inspect all wiring between the potentiometer and the drive's analog input terminals (e.g., AI1, GND, +10V) for damage.

  2. 2

    2. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the potentiometer's end terminals (e.g., +10V to GND) to verify its total resistance value (e.g., 5kΩ or 10kΩ).

  3. 3

    3. With the potentiometer connected, measure the voltage at the drive's analog input terminal (e.g., AI1) relative to ground while rotating the potentiometer, verifying it sweeps from 0V to 10V.

  4. 4

    4. Ensure the drive's parameter (e.g., P0-20 Analog Input Source) is correctly configured to accept the potentiometer signal (e.g., 0-10V or 4-20mA).

  5. 5

    5. Replace the potentiometer if resistance or voltage sweep tests indicate a fault in the device itself.

  6. 6

    6. Replace the drive's control board if external wiring and the potentiometer are confirmed good, but the input signal is not registered.
