External Fault (Terminal S6)

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

¿Qué significa EF6 ?

An external fault signal was received via MFDI terminal S6, possibly due to a problem with the connected external device, faulty wiring, or a misconfiguration where parameter H1-06 is set for an external fault (range 20 to 2B) but the terminal is not actively utilized. This will cause the drive to trip and stop the motor, potentially disrupting the process.

Causas comunes

  • External device connected to MFDI terminal S6 (e.g., auxiliary contact from a motor starter) is active.
  • Damaged or crimped wiring between the external device and MFDI terminal S6.
  • Parameter H1-06 is set for "External Fault" without proper justification or system design.
  • Inrush current or switching transients on nearby circuits corrupting the S6 input.
  • Intermittent fault in the external sensor or switch connected to S6.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

    1. Measure the voltage potential between MFDI terminal S6 and the common terminal (e.g., SN, S+) to determine its state.

  2. 2

    2. Verify the status of the external device connected to S6 (e.g., auxiliary contact, liquid level switch).

  3. 3

    3. Check parameter H1-06 to confirm it is correctly assigned for the intended S6 function.

  4. 4

    4. Disconnect the wire from MFDI terminal S6 and observe if the EF6 fault clears.

  5. 5

    5. Inspect the wiring from the external device to S6 for damage, loose connections, or proper shielding.

  6. 6

    6. Temporarily configure parameter H1-06 to a non-fault function to rule out internal drive issue with S6 input.
