FAn

Internal Fan Fault

Yaskawa · J1000

¿Qué significa FAn ?

The drive's internal cooling fan or its associated magnetic contactor has failed to operate correctly. This fault is detected based on parameter L8-32 settings. A malfunctioning cooling fan can lead to excessive heat buildup within the drive, potentially causing thermal damage, reduced operational life, and further component failures if not addressed promptly.

Causas comunes

  • Mechanical failure of the cooling fan motor (e.g., bearing failure, seized rotor) preventing rotation.
  • Clogged fan blades or intake vents with dust and debris, obstructing airflow and stalling the fan.
  • Open circuit or loose connection in the fan's power supply wiring or its feedback circuit.
  • Failure of the magnetic contactor (if present) that controls the fan's power, preventing the fan from starting.
  • Incorrect setting of parameter L8-32 (Fan Fault Detection Time), leading to premature fault detection.
  • Failure of the fan speed sensor or its associated control circuitry, giving an incorrect feedback signal.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

De-energize the drive and wait for capacitor discharge (verify using appropriate safety procedures).

  2. 2

Physically inspect the internal cooling fan blades for dust accumulation, damage, or obstruction, then clean if necessary.

  3. 3

Manually attempt to spin the fan blades to check for free movement and verify bearing condition; replace fan if seized or excessively noisy.

  4. 4

Using a multimeter, verify the voltage supply to the fan connector (e.g., 24VDC or 120VAC depending on fan type) when the drive attempts to start.

  5. 5

Check the resistance across the fan motor windings to detect an open circuit if no voltage is present or fan does not spin.

  6. 6

Review parameter L8-32 (Fan Fault Detection Time) to ensure it is set appropriately for the fan's startup characteristics, increasing slightly if false trips occur.
