Gate Drive Board Undervoltage

Yaskawa · J1000

¿Qué significa Uv4 ?

A voltage drop has occurred in the gate drive board circuit, indicating insufficient power supply to the board. This prevents the IGBTs from switching correctly, leading to immediate drive stoppage and potential damage if the underlying power issue is not resolved.

Causas comunes

  • Faulty internal power supply on the gate drive board, unable to provide sufficient voltage to IGBT drivers.
  • Input AC line voltage sag below 340V (for 400V class) causing DC bus undervoltage, which in turn affects auxiliary power supplies for gate drives.
  • Aging or damaged electrolytic capacitors within the gate drive power supply filtering circuit leading to voltage instability.
  • Internal short circuit or overload on an auxiliary power rail fed by the gate drive board's power supply circuit.
  • Damage to power resistors or diodes in the gate drive board's voltage regulation path.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Measure the incoming AC line voltage at the drive input terminals (R, S, T) using a multimeter to confirm it meets the drive's rated input voltage range (e.g., 380-480VAC).

  2. 2

Check the DC bus voltage at the drive's internal P+ and N- terminals (if safely accessible) with a DC voltmeter to ensure it is stable and above the minimum operational threshold (e.g., 540VDC for 400V class).

  3. 3

Perform a visual inspection of the gate drive board for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or discolored areas indicative of overheating.

  4. 4

With power off and safely discharged, measure the resistance of key components (e.g., diodes, power resistors) on the gate drive board using an ohmmeter to identify internal shorts or open circuits.

  5. 5

If a spare gate drive board is available, replace it and retest the drive operation to isolate the fault.
