This indicates a communication failure or malfunction involving the module at position (n+1) on the I/O bus, impacting the integrity of process data exchange. Modules that do not provide any data (e.g., supply modules without diagnostics) are ignored when determining 'n'.

• A faulty (n+1)th process data module causing bus disruption.
• Improper seating or connection of the (n+1)th module on the backplane.
• Damage to the internal data bus connectors at the (n+1)th module slot.
