External Fault at Terminal S3
Yaskawa · F7 Drive
Hva betyr EF3 ?
This fault is triggered when an external condition connected to multi-function digital input terminal S3 activates the Drive's external fault function. The Drive will stop according to its programmed response (ramp, coast, or fast stop). This indicates an issue with the external device or process monitored by S3, potentially leading to unsafe operation if misconfigured.
Vanlige årsaker
- An external device (e.g., E-stop button, limit switch, thermal overload) connected to S3 has activated its fault condition.
- Wiring fault (e.g., broken wire, short circuit to ground, loose connection) in the circuit connected to digital input terminal S3.
- Incorrect programming of parameter H1-03 (S3 function selection) for the expected input state (e.g., N.O. vs N.C. contact).
- Interference or electrical noise on the signal line to S3 causing a momentary false trigger of the external fault.
- Failure of the external sensor or switch connected to S3, causing it to incorrectly signal a fault.

Klikk på steg for å spore fremgangen.
- 1
Using a multimeter, measure the voltage state at terminal S3 relative to SN (common) to determine if the external input is active.
- 2
Inspect all wiring connected to terminal S3 and the external device for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
- 3
Verify the setting of parameter H1-03 (S3 function selection) matches the operational logic and contact type (e.g., '0' for external fault N.C.).
- 4
Manually actuate the external switch or sensor connected to S3 to confirm its proper mechanical and electrical operation.
- 5
Temporarily disconnect the wire from S3 and observe if the fault clears (ENSURE SAFE OPERATION BEFORE DISCONNECTING SAFETY INPUTS).
