Earth Fault / Output Current Unbalance
ABB · ACS560 Standard Control Program Firmware
What does 2330 mean?
The drive has detected a load unbalance, typically due to an earth fault in the motor or motor cable, or excessive output current unbalance in an inverter unit (for parallel connected modules). This condition poses a significant electrical safety risk, can lead to equipment damage, insulation breakdown, or fire, and indicates an internal fault if external causes are ruled out.
Complete Troubleshooting Guide
- 1
Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge absorbers installed in the motor cable, as they can interfere with fault detection.
- 2
Measure the insulation resistance of the motor and motor cables to earth using a megohmmeter (megger) – expect >1 MΩ.
- 3
For parallel connected inverter modules, if external faults are ruled out, identify the 'xx' module number and inspect that specific inverter unit.
- 4
If no external fault can be detected after thorough checks, contact your local ABB representative for internal fault diagnosis.
