A792

Brake resistor wiring

ABB · ACS580 General Purpose Drive

What does A792 mean?

A short circuit has been detected in the brake resistor or a fault within the brake chopper itself. This condition prevents the safe dissipation of regenerative energy and can lead to damage to the brake chopper components, potentially causing further drive faults.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Inspect all wiring connections between the drive, brake chopper, and brake resistor for short circuits or loose terminals.

  2. 2

Perform diagnostic checks on the brake chopper module to identify any internal faults.

  3. 3

Measure the resistance of the brake resistor to ensure it is not shorted internally.
