Overcurrent Fault

Allen-Bradley · 160 AC Drive

What does 12 mean?

This fault is triggered by the hardware trip circuit detecting an excessive current condition at the controller's output. This is a critical fault that can be caused by a short circuit in the motor windings or wiring, or by severe overload conditions. Ignoring this can lead to immediate damage to the controller's output stage or the motor.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Check for any short circuits between the controller output terminals and the motor terminals.

  2. 2

Inspect the motor wiring and the motor itself for any grounded phases or internal shorts.

  3. 3

Assess the motor's mechanical load for any conditions that could cause sudden, excessive current draw.
