Flashing red (Output Module)

External Output Channel Fault

Allen-Bradley · Compact 5000 I/O Analog Modules

What does Flashing red (Output Module) mean?

An external condition has caused a fault on an output channel. This can be a disconnected output wire (No Load), the module attempting to drive current exceeding its maximum channel level (Short Circuit), or an issue with the SA bus power. This indicates an issue with the wiring, load, or auxiliary power for the output channel.

Common Causes

  • A wire is disconnected from the output channel (No Load condition).
  • The module is attempting to drive a current from the channel greater than its maximum specified level (Short Circuit condition).
  • SA bus power, if used, is not available or is incorrect.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the wiring at the output channel for integrity and proper connection.

  2. 2

Troubleshoot the application logic to ensure an acceptable level of current is driven from the channel.

  3. 3

Check the SA connector (on 5069-AEN2TR adapter or 5069-FPD module) for the presence of 24VDC power.

  4. 4

If 24VDC power is not present at the SA connector, troubleshoot the SA power connection.
