Motor overload temperature

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 10 mean?

The electronic thermal protection (ETR) indicates the motor is too hot. The drive issues a warning or alarm when the internal counter exceeds 90% (depending on parameter 1-90) and trips when it reaches 100%, typically due to prolonged operation above 100% overload.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Check for actual motor overheating by touch or external temperature sensor.

  2. 2

Inspect the application for any mechanical overloads on the motor.

  3. 3

Verify that the motor current set in parameter 1-24 and all other motor data in parameters 1-20 to 1-25 are correctly configured.

  4. 4

If an external motor cooling fan is in use, confirm it is properly selected in parameter 1-91 Motor External Fan and is functioning.

  5. 5

Perform an Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA) in parameter 1-29 to ensure the frequency converter is accurately tuned to the motor, which can reduce thermal loading.
