Motor ETR Overload

Danfoss · VLT Micro Drive FC 51

What does 100 mean?

This fault signifies that the drive's Electronic Thermal Relay (ETR) function for motor protection has detected an overload condition based on the motor's current and thermal model. This indicates the motor is experiencing prolonged high current, leading to potential overheating and damage if not addressed.

Additional Steps

Steps 1–2 are listed in Priority Fix.

  1. 3

Confirm that the drive's motor thermal protection settings, including the ETR trip class, are correctly configured for the application.

  2. 4

Inspect the motor for proper ventilation and clear any obstructions from its cooling fan or fins.

  3. 5

If the motor regularly runs near its maximum capacity, consider upgrading to a higher-rated motor or drive, or optimizing the process to reduce load.
