FF88

MOD BOARD T

ABB · ACS560 Standard Control Program Firmware

What does FF88 mean?

An overtemperature condition has been detected on the AINT board of an inverter module. Prolonged operation at elevated temperatures can lead to accelerated degradation and eventual failure of critical electronic components on the board.

Common Causes

  • Blocked or restricted airflow to the inverter module's internal cooling fans or heatsinks, preventing heat dissipation.
  • Failure of the control board cooling fan, leading to heat buildup around sensitive components.
  • Ambient temperature in the electrical cabinet exceeding the drive's maximum operating temperature (e.g., 40°C or 50°C).
  • Dust, dirt, or debris accumulation on the AINT board components or heatsinks, reducing cooling efficiency.
  • Overloading of the drive, causing excessive current flow and increased heat generation within the inverter.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify the proper operation of the inverter module's internal cooling fan(s) by checking for rotation and airflow.

  2. 2

    2. Measure the ambient temperature inside the electrical cabinet using a thermometer and compare it to the drive's specified operating range.

  3. 3

    3. Inspect all cooling air inlets and outlets on the drive and cabinet for obstructions, dust filters for clogging, and clean as necessary.

  4. 4

    4. Check parameter P1-10 (Overload trip level) and actual motor current (P1-15) to determine if the drive is operating at or above its continuous rating.

  5. 5

    5. Ensure proper sealing of the cabinet (if applicable) and check for any external heat sources contributing to elevated internal temperatures.
