A general fault has been detected within the encoder system, which could be related to its configuration, wiring, or physical operation. This fault can lead to incorrect position feedback, affecting motor control accuracy and stability.
Click steps to track your progress.
Verify all encoder cable connections at the drive's feedback connector (e.g., X3, X4) and at the motor side are tight and correctly pinned according to the wiring diagram.
Measure the encoder's supply voltage (e.g., +5VDC on X3/3 to 0V on X3/4) at the drive connector to ensure it is stable and within tolerance.
Check continuity of individual encoder signal wires (A, B, Z, Data+/Data-) from the drive connector to the motor connector.
Review drive parameters P2-01 (Feedback device type), P2-02 (Number of lines/PPR), and P2-03 (Commutation offset) to ensure they precisely match the motor's encoder specifications.
Inspect the encoder's mechanical coupling to the motor shaft for looseness, damage, or excessive play.
Use an oscilloscope to observe the encoder A/B signals (if incremental) or data frames (if serial) at the drive input terminals for signal integrity and noise.
