Hidden Parameter

ABB · ACS880

What does 5 mean?

The system attempted to access a parameter that is currently configured as hidden. This means the parameter is not visible through standard interfaces, potentially to simplify the user experience or restrict access. This prevents direct interaction with the parameter.

Common Causes

  • Drive parameter P0-03 (Parameter View Level) is set to 'Standard User' (e.g., value 0), which hides advanced or expert-level parameters.
  • A specific parameter is configured as hidden by the drive's application software or a custom firmware profile to simplify the user interface.
  • Attempting to access a parameter through an HMI or PLC interface that does not have the necessary privilege level configured (e.g., lacking supervisor password entry P0-04).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Adjust drive parameter P0-03 (Parameter View Level) to 'Advanced' (e.g., value 1) or 'Expert' (e.g., value 2) to reveal hidden parameters.

  2. 2

    2. Enter the correct supervisor password into parameter P0-04 (Access Password) to gain elevated access rights if the parameter is protected by a security level.

  3. 3

    3. Use the drive's native keypad or a manufacturer-provided configuration software (e.g., DriveWorks) to access and unhide specific parameters if they were custom hidden.

  4. 4

    4. Refer to the drive's parameter manual to confirm the specific parameter's visibility requirements and default settings.
