A main cooling fan fault has been detected in the inverter unit. This indicates a failure in the drive's primary cooling system. While other fans may compensate and switching frequency might be reduced, prolonged operation with a main fan fault risks overheating and damage to the drive.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Power down the drive, open the enclosure, and visually inspect the main cooling fan blades for obstructions or damage.
2. Gently attempt to spin the fan blades manually (with power off) to check for excessive bearing resistance or binding.
3. Measure the voltage supplied to the main cooling fan terminals (e.g., 230VAC or 48VDC depending on drive model) to confirm adequate power.
4. Use compressed air to thoroughly clean the heatsink fins and fan blades, removing all accumulated dust and debris.
5. Replace the main cooling fan module with a new, manufacturer-specified unit to restore proper cooling and verify fault clearance.
