The motor is rotating at a speed exceeding its configured maximum allowed speed. This can be caused by incorrect speed limits, insufficient braking capacity, or changes in mechanical load under torque control. Uncontrolled overspeed can cause severe mechanical damage to the motor or connected machinery and poses a safety risk.
Click steps to track your progress.
Check parameter P30-10 (Max speed) and ensure it is set correctly for the application's maximum allowed speed.
Verify the integrity and sizing of the dynamic braking resistor (e.g., measure resistance) and the braking chopper (Parameter P30-07 operation).
Monitor actual motor speed (Parameter P01-01) and reference speed (Parameter P01-02) during operation to identify speed transients.
Review and adjust speed controller tuning parameters (e.g., P20-04, P20-05) to improve stability and prevent overshoot.
If using an encoder, verify encoder feedback accuracy by comparing actual speed with an independent measurement (e.g., handheld tachometer).
