The control panel (or connected PC tool) has lost communication with the drive. This prevents operator interaction and monitoring through the panel. If communication is not restored, local control and diagnostics are unavailable.
Click steps to track your progress.
Confirm the control panel cable is securely inserted into the drive's communication port (e.g., RJ45, USB Type B) and the control panel unit.
Inspect the control panel cable for any visible physical damage, kinks, or worn connectors. Replace with a known good cable if damage is suspected.
Measure continuity on each pin of the control panel cable using a multimeter to verify no open circuits or shorts exist.
Verify drive parameter P3-01 (Control Panel Timeout) is set to an appropriate value (e.g., 500ms or higher) to prevent premature timeout.
Test communication with an alternative control panel unit or a PC running the manufacturer's configuration software (e.g., DriveWorks, Drive Composer) connected to the drive's port.
Check for any diagnostic LEDs on the drive or panel that indicate communication status (e.g., LINK, ACT) and their state.
