A8B0

Signal supervision

ABB · ACS880

What does A8B0 mean?

This warning is generated by a signal supervision function, indicating an abnormality or unexpected condition in a monitored signal, potentially due to out-of-range values, signal loss, or noise. This can affect the drive's control accuracy or lead to unexpected behavior.

Common Causes

  • Analog input signal (e.g., from a sensor) has gone out of configured range (e.g., below P6-10 minimum or above P6-11 maximum).
  • Intermittent or complete loss of sensor signal due to damaged cabling, loose connection (e.g., at AI1 terminal), or sensor failure.
  • Excessive electrical noise or electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the signal line, corrupting readings.
  • Sensor power supply (e.g., 24VDC) instability or failure, causing erratic sensor output.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify the analog input signal value (e.g., P6-01) in the drive's monitoring menu.

  2. 2

    2. Use a multimeter to measure the signal voltage or current directly at the drive's analog input terminals (e.g., AI1, AI2).

  3. 3

    3. Inspect the sensor wiring for damage, loose connections, or proper shielding and grounding.

  4. 4

    4. Check the sensor's power supply voltage (e.g., 24VDC) for stability and correct output.

  5. 5

    5. Review signal supervision parameters P6-10 (Min limit) and P6-11 (Max limit) for correct range settings for the application.
