EFB invalid parameterization

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does 6683 mean?

The parameter settings for the Embedded Fieldbus (EFB) are inconsistent or not compatible with the selected fieldbus protocol. This fault indicates a configuration error within the drive's fieldbus communication setup, preventing proper communication initialization or operation.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect or conflicting parameter settings within parameter group 58 (Embedded fieldbus).
  • A mismatch between the selected fieldbus protocol and the configured parameters for that specific protocol.
  • Errors introduced during manual configuration or modification of EFB parameters.
  • Incomplete or corrupt EFB parameter set.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Review all parameter settings within parameter group 58 (Embedded fieldbus) for consistency, correctness, and adherence to the selected fieldbus protocol specifications.

  2. 2

Ensure that the selected fieldbus protocol (e.g., in a specific EFB protocol selection parameter) matches the requirements of the higher-level control system.

  3. 3

Cross-reference the EFB parameter settings with the specific fieldbus protocol manual and the drive's firmware manual to identify any deviations.

  4. 4

If the exact cause cannot be identified, consider resetting the EFB parameters to their default values and carefully reconfigure them step-by-step.

  5. 5

Verify that the physical fieldbus cable is appropriate for the chosen protocol and correctly terminated at both the drive and the controller ends.
