Allen-Bradley · Compact 5000 Digital I/O Modules
This diagnostic indicates a short circuit specifically from a safety output point to ground. When detected, the module faults and turns off the output to ensure a safe state.

Identify the specific output point Ptxx where the fault is detected via Studio 5000 Logix Designer diagnostics.
Examine the physical wiring connected to output point Ptxx for any damage or direct contact with system ground (e.g., conduit, chassis).
With power removed from the module and field devices, use a multimeter to measure resistance between the output terminal Ptxx and system ground; expect an open circuit (high resistance).
Ensure the short condition is physically removed from the circuit; the diagnostic automatically resets to '0' once the condition clears.
