Output Forced Error

Allen-Bradley · MicroLogix 1400 Programmable Controllers

What does 2 mean?

The configured PTOX output (2, 3, or 4) is in a forced condition, meaning its state is overridden by user software or another program. The forced condition must be removed for the PTOX to operate. This error does not fault the controller and clears automatically when the force is removed.

Common Causes

  • A user or another program has externally forced the state of the PTOX output using programming software.
  • Testing or debugging operations left an output in a forced state unintentionally.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Remove the force condition on the configured PTOX output (Output 2, 3, or 4) using the programming software.

  2. 2

Verify no other logic or external interface is attempting to force the output state.

  3. 3

Cycle controller power if unable to clear the force through software as a last resort.
