Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 520-series Adjustable Frequency
An internal electronic overload trip has been activated, signifying that the motor has experienced sustained excessive current beyond its programmed overload limit. This condition indicates an excessive mechanical load or incorrect motor parameters, risking motor overheating and permanent damage.
Click steps to track your progress.
Measure the motor output current (P0-04 [Motor Current]) during operation and compare it to the motor's nameplate nominal current rating.
Verify that parameter P1-50 (Motor Nominal Current) is correctly set to the motor's nameplate full-load amperage.
Inspect the motor's cooling fan for proper operation and ensure its ventilation fins are free from obstruction and dirt.
Disconnect the motor from the load and run it unloaded, measuring the current (P0-04 [Motor Current]) to compare against the motor's no-load current specification.
Check for proper motor cable insulation resistance using a megohmmeter (Megger) to rule out phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground shorts in the motor or cable.
