101

PwrDn NVS Blank

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

What does 101 mean?

This fault indicates an internal data error within the non-volatile storage (NVS), often occurring after a flash update attempting to correct a Fault 117. This suggests a corruption issue within the drive's internal memory. The drive's internal data is compromised, potentially leading to unstable operation or incorrect parameter handling if unresolved.

Common Causes

  • Unsuccessful or interrupted firmware update process for the main control board, leaving NVS in an undefined state.
  • Corruption of the non-volatile storage (NVS) during an unexpected power-down or control power interruption.
  • Internal hardware defect within the NVS chip (e.g., flash memory) preventing proper initialization.
  • Voltage fluctuations or noise spikes occurring during critical NVS write operations.
  • Previous attempts to clear NVS (e.g., after Fault 117) were incomplete or failed.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Perform a factory reset of all drive parameters via the HMI or programming software (e.g., set P0-01 to "Factory Reset" and execute).

  2. 2

    2. Re-attempt a full firmware re-flash of the main control board using the latest compatible firmware version and a stable connection (e.g., USB).

  3. 3

    3. Verify the drive's control power supply (e.g., 24VDC) for stability and correct voltage levels at the MCB terminals.

  4. 4

    4. If available, attempt to restore a saved non-volatile storage image or parameter backup using specialized service tools.

  5. 5

    5. If the fault persists, replacement of the main control board (MCB) is indicated due to suspected NVS hardware corruption.
