Beckhoff · EL2904 TwinSAFE Fail-Safe Output Terminal
The internal temperature of the terminal has exceeded its specified operating range, indicating overtemperature for internal microcontrollers (μC1 or μC2). This can lead to reduced performance, component degradation, thermal shutdown, or even complete failure of the terminal, compromising safety. Prompt resolution is required to prevent permanent damage.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Measure the ambient temperature inside the control cabinet using a calibrated thermometer. Ensure it is within the module's specified operating range (e.g., 0°C to 55°C).
2. Verify proper operation of cabinet cooling fans, air conditioners, or heat exchangers. Remove any obstructions from cooling vents on the cabinet and the terminal module.
3. Reduce the electrical load on the terminal's output channels where possible. Verify the total current drawn does not exceed the module's specifications (e.g., 2A per channel).
4. Power down the system and use compressed air to clean any dust or debris from the terminal module's heat sinks and internal components.
5. If the issue persists despite adequate cooling and normal loading, replace the terminal module, as its internal thermal management or components may be faulty.
