FB ESTOP Bit 10

E-Stop Discrepancy Error - Group 3 (Safe Inputs Active)

Beckhoff · TwinSAFE Logic FB

What does FB ESTOP Bit 10 mean?

This fault indicates a discrepancy in E-Stop input group 3, similar to 'FB ESTOP Bit 2', but specifically when the 'Safe Inputs after Disc Error' option is activated. This means that even after a discrepancy, the FB attempts to maintain a safe state for the inputs, but a persistent or critical discrepancy has occurred, preventing normal operation and requiring intervention.

Common Causes

  • Discrepancy detected between the redundant channels of E-Stop Input Group 3 while the system expects all safe inputs to be active.
  • A wiring fault or loose connection on one of the input conductors for E-Stop Group 3 (e.g., terminal X9.1 or X9.2).
  • The E-Stop button for Group 3 is experiencing contact bounce or sticking on one of its redundant contacts.
  • High electrical noise environment affecting one specific input channel for E-Stop Group 3, causing transient state changes.
  • Safety controller parameter (e.g., P_ESTOP_ACT_DELAY_G3) incorrectly configured for the E-Stop's response time.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Monitor the LED indicators for both E-Stop Group 3 input channels (e.g., IN_G3_A, IN_G3_B) on the safety controller during operation and E-Stop activation.

  2. 2

Use a calibrated multimeter to verify the voltage levels on the E-Stop Group 3 input terminals (e.g., X9.1 and X9.2) during active and inactive states.

  3. 3

Perform a thorough visual inspection of the E-Stop button and its wiring for Group 3, looking for corrosion, damage, or loose connections.

  4. 4

Increase the input filtering time (e.g., P_INPUT_FILTER_TIME_G3) in the safety controller configuration if environmental noise is suspected.

  5. 5

Test the E-Stop button's mechanical operation, ensuring smooth and synchronized actuation of both internal contacts.
