Hardware reset of digital signal processor

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 1792 mean?

The digital signal processor (DSP) has undergone an unexpected hardware reset. This could be due to a transient power issue, an internal watchdog timer, or a deeper hardware malfunction.

Common Causes

  • Brief sag or interruption of the internal 3.3VDC or 5VDC power supply rail to the Digital Signal Processor (DSP).
  • Exceeding the DSP's operational temperature limits due to inadequate cooling or high ambient conditions.
  • Internal watchdog timer expiration triggered by a critical software deadlock or an infinite loop.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) ingress affecting the DSP clock or critical data lines.
  • Component failure (e.g., crystal oscillator, decoupling capacitor) associated with the DSP circuit.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the stability of the 24VDC, 5VDC, and 3.3VDC internal power supply rails at the DSP test points using an oscilloscope.

  2. 2

Check the drive's internal fan operation and ensure heatsinks are free of dust or obstructions.

  3. 3

Inspect for loose connections on the main control board and any DSP daughter cards.

  4. 4

Measure the ambient temperature within the control cabinet to confirm it is within specified limits (e.g., 0-50°C).

  5. 5

Isolate potential sources of EMI by checking grounding connections and ensuring proper cable routing.
