Software version 48.3X or newer with MK1 control card

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 1798 mean?

An incompatible software version (48.3X or newer) is being used with an older MK1 control card. This mismatch prevents proper operation and requires a hardware upgrade.

Common Causes

  • Attempting to install a firmware version (48.3X or newer) specifically designed for MK2 or newer hardware onto an MK1 control card.
  • Incorrect drive model selected during a firmware update procedure.
  • Legacy MK1 control card accidentally installed into a drive unit designed for MK2 or newer architecture.
  • Automatic firmware update initiated without prior verification of hardware compatibility.
  • Internal identification system incorrectly reports the control card type, leading to a software mismatch error.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify the exact control card hardware revision (MK1, MK2, etc.) by inspecting the physical card's label.

  2. 2

Determine the correct firmware version compatible with the identified MK1 control card using the drive's documentation.

  3. 3

Downgrade the drive firmware to a version compatible with the MK1 control card (e.g., any version below 48.3X).

  4. 4

If newer features requiring version 48.3X or newer are desired, plan for a control card upgrade to an MK2 or newer revision.

  5. 5

Review parameter P15-00 (Drive information) to confirm the installed control card type and revision.
