LCP stack overflow

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 2820 mean?

The Local Control Panel (LCP) internal software stack has overflowed. This indicates a potential software or processing issue within the LCP, possibly due to complex operations or a firmware bug.

Common Causes

  • Executing overly complex parameter monitoring or diagnostic routines simultaneously through the LCP.
  • Firmware bug within the LCP's operating system or application logic.
  • Excessive navigation or rapid data entry on the LCP, exhausting its internal memory stack.
  • Corrupted LCP application code or configuration data stored in its non-volatile memory.
  • Insufficient memory allocation for the LCP's stack in the drive's firmware.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power cycle the drive by disconnecting mains voltage (L1, L2, L3) for at least 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Attempt to update the drive's main firmware, which often includes LCP firmware updates.

  3. 3

Perform an LCP factory reset, if available, or reset all drive parameters via P14-22 (Reset options).

  4. 4

Avoid rapidly navigating menus or entering data on the LCP when the fault occurs.

  5. 5

Check for any installed LCP option modules that might conflict or use excessive resources.
