SP0002

Excessive Velocity Error

Fanuc · AC Spindle Motor Alpha i-Beta i Series Parameters

What does SP0002 mean?

The spindle motor's actual velocity deviated excessively from the commanded velocity. This can be caused by mechanical load, incorrect tuning, or encoder issues.

Common Causes

  • Insufficient torque from the spindle amplifier to meet commanded speed.
  • Mechanical load changes exceeding amplifier capacity.
  • Encoder feedback signal noise or loss of signal.
  • Tuning parameters for velocity control (e.g., P1-02, P1-03) are suboptimal.
  • Spindle encoder resolution mismatch with amplifier settings.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the encoder feedback cable for damage and ensure secure connections.

  2. 2

Verify that velocity feedback parameters (e.g., P1-02, P1-03) are appropriately tuned.

  3. 3

Measure the output voltage of the spindle amplifier during acceleration.

  4. 4

Check for any mechanical issues on the driven spindle or gearbox.

  5. 5

Confirm the encoder resolution matches the value configured in P1-06.
