SP0011

Converter: DC Link Overvoltage

Fanuc · AC Spindle Motor Alpha i-Beta i Series Parameters

What does SP0011 mean?

The DC link voltage in the converter section of the spindle amplifier has exceeded its safe limit. This typically occurs during deceleration when regenerative energy is not properly dissipated, or due to high input voltage.

Common Causes

  • Sudden load change causing regenerative energy to spike DC link voltage.
  • Failure of the amplifier's braking resistor or chopper circuit.
  • Overvoltage protection circuit malfunction within the amplifier.
  • Incorrect braking resistor value or configuration.
  • Input voltage transients exceeding nominal levels.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure the DC link voltage (terminals P+, P-) during deceleration or load changes.

  2. 2

Verify the resistance value of the external braking resistor (if applicable).

  3. 3

Check the status of the braking chopper transistor on the amplifier board.

  4. 4

Inspect the connections to the braking resistor for looseness or damage.

  5. 5

Ensure the amplifier's overvoltage trip point parameter is correctly set.
