SP0022

Spindle Amplifier Current Overload

Fanuc · AC Spindle Motor Alpha i-Beta i Series Parameters

What does SP0022 mean?

The spindle amplifier is experiencing an overcurrent condition. This can be caused by excessive load on the motor, a short circuit, or incorrect current limits.

Common Causes

  • Excessive mechanical load on the spindle motor.
  • Short circuit within the spindle motor windings.
  • Amplifier output transistors have failed.
  • Incorrect motor tuning parameters (e.g., P5-XX related to current limits).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure spindle motor current during operation using P5-04.

  2. 2

Inspect motor for bearing issues or mechanical binding.

  3. 3

Perform motor winding resistance test between phases (U, V, W).

  4. 4

Review and adjust current limit parameters (e.g., P5-02, P5-03) if set too low.
