Line Tracking Motor Overheat

Fanuc · R-30iB Mate + Mate Plus Robot

What does SRVO-089 mean?

The motor connected to the line tracking encoder has overheated. This alarm persists even after the Pulsecoder has cooled sufficiently and power is reapplied, indicating a persistent overheating condition or sensor issue.

Common Causes

  • Overheating of the motor driving the line tracking encoder.
  • Excessive load on the line tracking axis exceeding motor thermal limits.
  • Malfunction of the motor's internal thermal protection sensor.
  • Inadequate cooling to the line tracking motor housing.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure motor winding resistance. Compare values to P1-54 specifications.

  2. 2

Check motor encoder signal integrity at terminal E1-E4.

  3. 3

Verify cooling fan operation for the line tracking motor assembly.

  4. 4

Inspect motor mounting for proper heat dissipation.

  5. 5

Monitor motor temperature via parameter P1-78 during operation.
