DSP Initialization Failure / Dry Run Mode

Fanuc · R-30iB Mate + Mate Plus Robot

What does SRVO-223 mean?

A servo DSP initialization failure occurred due to either a hardware failure or an incorrect software setting, causing the system to enter DSP dry run mode. The first number in the alarm message provides details about the specific cause of the failure.

Common Causes

  • The DSP (Digital Signal Processor) axis card has failed to initialize correctly, or the system is in 'Dry Run Mode'.
  • An issue with the DSP card's firmware, hardware, or its communication with the main CPU is preventing proper startup.
  • Alternatively, the system might be intentionally in 'Dry Run Mode' for testing or maintenance, which mimics this error.
  • Requires checking DSP card integrity, firmware, and the operational mode setting.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

If the first number displayed is 1, this is a warning due to $scr.$startup_cnd=12.

  2. 2

If the first number displayed is 2, 3, 4, or 7, replace a servo card.

  3. 3

If the first number displayed is 5, check for invalid ATR setting or incorrect software axis configuration (FSSB line number, hardware start axis number, amplifier number, and amplifier type).

  4. 4

If the first number displayed is 6, SRVO-180 occurs simultaneously, indicating no controllable axis exists on any group; execute auxiliary axis setting to add an axis at controlled start.

  5. 5

If the first number displayed is 9, check the hardware connection as there is no amplifier connected to the servo card.
