Fanuc · Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL B Plus

What does 385 mean?

This external alarm indicates an interruption in serial communication from the separate detector, potentially due to a disconnected cable, noise, or detector failure. Communication loss means the control unit cannot reliably monitor the detector's position.

Common Causes

  • Communication interruption with the separate detector
  • Cable disconnection for the separate detector
  • Noise interfering with serial data transmission
  • Separate detector failure

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check whether the feedback cable is not disconnected and whether the connector is properly plugged.

  2. 2

Check CNC diagnosis information No.356 (Built-in detector) and No.357 (Separate detector) for incremented values, which indicate noise effects. The value is cleared when the CNC unit is powered off.

  3. 3

    Replace the detector.
