DC Link Overvoltage (PSM, PSMR)

Fanuc · Series 30i CNC

What does 7 mean?

The DC voltage at the main circuit DC link is abnormally high. This typically occurs due to excessive regenerated power that the PSM cannot dissipate, or issues with the AC power source's output impedance. An overvoltage condition risks damage to DC link components and connected modules.

Common Causes

  • Excessive regenerated power, indicating the PSM does not have sufficient capacity
  • The output impedance of the AC power source is too high
  • Main circuit power supply was switched off with an emergency stop state released

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the specification of the PSM to ensure its capacity is sufficient for regenerated power loads

  2. 2

Check the AC power source output impedance; expect the voltage variation at maximum output time to be within 7%

  3. 3

Check the sequence of operations, especially regarding power supply switching in conjunction with emergency stop states
