F385

Line frequency fault

Indramat · DIAX 04

What does F385 mean?

The DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit has detected that the frequency of the incoming AC mains voltage is outside its permissible operating range. Incorrect line frequency can disrupt the power supply's internal timing and lead to unstable operation or damage. The unit faults to ensure correct power conversion.

Common Causes

  • Incoming AC mains frequency is outside the specified range (e.g., not 50Hz or 60Hz ± tolerance).
  • Unstable or noisy utility power grid causing frequency fluctuations.
  • The power source (e.g., generator) supplying the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit has an unstable output frequency.
  • Faulty frequency measurement circuit within the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit.
  • Misconfiguration of line frequency monitoring parameters (e.g., S-0-0132) in the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure the incoming AC mains frequency at the input terminals of the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit. Verify it is stable and within the specified range (e.g., 50Hz ±2Hz or 60Hz ±2Hz).

  2. 2

If supplied by a generator, verify the generator's frequency stability and control.

  3. 3

Check for any loose connections in the main power circuit that could cause measurement errors.

  4. 4

Review and verify the line frequency monitoring parameters (e.g., S-0-0132, S-0-0133) in the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS to ensure they are set appropriately.

  5. 5

If external frequency is stable and correct, and the fault persists, it may indicate an internal fault with the DIAX04 SSE-03VRS power supply unit's frequency measurement circuit.
