E2069

Brake torque too low

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E2069 mean?

The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected that the holding brake is unable to generate sufficient torque to hold the load, possibly during a brake test or when monitoring brake engagement. This can indicate a potential safety hazard if the load is not securely held, especially in vertical applications.

Common Causes

  • Mechanical wear or damage to the holding brake components (e.g., brake pads).
  • Insufficient voltage or current supplied to the brake coil (if electrically actuated), preventing full engagement.
  • Incorrect brake parameters configured in the drive (e.g., brake torque value P-0-0542) that do not match the physical brake.
  • An excessively high external load is overwhelming the brake capacity.
  • Contamination or lubrication issues affecting brake performance.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the mechanical condition of the motor holding brake for wear, damage, or contamination that might reduce its effectiveness.

  2. 2

Verify the electrical connections and supply voltage/current to the holding brake (if applicable) to ensure it is receiving adequate power for full engagement.

  3. 3

Perform a brake test (e.g., via P-0-0541, C2100 Brake check command) and monitor the actual brake torque achieved, comparing it to the specified holding torque.

  4. 4

Review and verify brake-related parameters in the IndraDrive MPx02, such as P-0-0542 (Brake torque value), to ensure they are correctly configured for the installed brake.

  5. 5

If the brake is worn or damaged and does not meet specifications, it may require replacement.
