Encoder 2: encoder signals disturbed

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E2075 mean?

The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected disturbances or errors in the feedback signals from Encoder 2. These disturbances can include signal loss, noise, intermittent faults, or incorrect signal levels, potentially leading to unstable or inaccurate position and velocity control, especially in dual-encoder systems.

Common Causes

  • Loose or damaged Encoder 2 cable connections at either the encoder or the IndraDrive MPx02.
  • Electrical noise interference on Encoder 2 signal lines due to inadequate shielding or cable routing.
  • Faulty Encoder 2 or internal sensor components.
  • Incorrect encoder 2 parameterization in the drive (e.g., resolution, signal type) leading to signal misinterpretation.
  • Mechanical issues affecting the encoder 2 mounting or coupling to the shaft.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power down the drive and inspect all connections of Encoder 2 at both the encoder and the IndraDrive MPx02, ensuring they are clean, tight, and correctly wired.

  2. 2

Check the Encoder 2 cable for damage, proper shielding, and separation from power cables to minimize electrical noise interference.

  3. 3

Verify the encoder 2 parameters in the IndraDrive MPx02 (e.g., P-0-0028, Encoder 2 type; P-0-0036, Encoder 2 resolution) match the installed encoder's specifications.

  4. 4

Inspect Encoder 2 for mechanical integrity, ensuring it is securely mounted and its coupling to the shaft is sound and free of play.

  5. 5

If the issue persists, consider temporarily swapping the encoder (if possible) or performing diagnostic checks on the encoder signals with an oscilloscope to rule out a faulty encoder.
