F8060

Overcurrent in power section

Indramat · Indradrive

What does F8060 mean?

A sudden surge of current exceeding the instantaneous rating was detected in the IndraDrive's power section, leading to an immediate shutdown to prevent damage. This is often caused by a short circuit in the motor or cabling, or a rapid acceleration of a high inertia load.

Common Causes

  • Short circuit between motor phases or between a phase and ground in the motor or motor cable.
  • Rapid acceleration or deceleration of a high inertia load without adequate ramp times.
  • Incorrect motor parameters causing an unstable current loop.
  • Drive power section hardware failure (e.g., IGBT short).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Disconnect power and perform insulation resistance tests (megger) between motor phases and to ground on both the motor and motor cable.

  2. 2

Verify that the acceleration and deceleration ramps (e.g., S-0-0077 Ramp Time Pos, S-0-0078 Ramp Time Neg) are appropriately set for the application's inertia.

  3. 3

Check motor parameters in the drive (e.g., S-0-0010 Motor Nominal Current, S-0-0013 Motor Type) against the motor nameplate.

  4. 4

Inspect the motor and mechanical system for any binding or sudden impacts.

  5. 5

If the motor and cabling are verified good, the drive's power section may be faulty and require replacement.
