1031

VMN HIGH

Kone · Elevator Control

What does 1031 mean?

The motor controller (codes 1031, 2031, 3031) has detected that its VMN (motor voltage) is too high. This indicates an overvoltage condition for the motor. The specific lift reaction is controller dependent.

Common Causes

  • Overvoltage condition on the battery supply.
  • Issue with regenerative braking causing voltage spikes.
  • Internal power supply fault within the motor controller.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure incoming AC supply voltage at the drive's input terminals to verify it is within the specified tolerance.

  2. 2

Verify the DC-link voltage displayed on the drive's HMI or diagnostic tool is within the nominal operating range.

  3. 3

Inspect the braking resistor and its associated wiring for physical damage, proper connection, and verify its resistance value if applicable.

  4. 4

Verify all motor controller parameters related to voltage limits, acceleration/deceleration ramps, and braking resistor configuration are correctly set according to elevator specifications.

  5. 5

Inspect motor power cables for any signs of damage, insulation breakdown, or loose connections.
