1037

CONTACTOR CLOSED

Kone · Elevator Control

What does 1037 mean?

The motor controller (codes 1037, 2037, 3037) has detected that the main contactor is closed when it should be open. This indicates a contactor control issue or a welded contact. The specific lift reaction is controller dependent.

Common Causes

  • Contactor welded closed due to overcurrent or age.
  • Contactor feedback circuit fault, indicating a false closed status.
  • Contactor control signal error, inadvertently keeping the contactor closed.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure voltage across the main contactor coil terminals to confirm it is de-energized when the controller commands an open state.

  2. 2

Inspect the main contactor for physical signs of mechanical damage, binding, or evidence of contact welding/overheating.

  3. 3

Perform a continuity test on the main power contacts of the contactor with the coil de-energized to verify they are open.

  4. 4

Verify the controller's digital output signal for the main contactor coil transitions to the correct state (e.g., 0V/OFF) at the controller's terminal block when commanded open.
