One of the motor phases has made contact with earth, indicating an insulation fault in the motor cable. This condition poses a risk of electrical shock and further equipment damage.
Click steps to track your progress.
Power down the drive and disconnect the motor cable from the drive's output terminals (e.g., X2/U, X2/V, X2/W).
Disconnect the motor cable from the motor terminal block.
Perform an insulation resistance test on the motor cable: Measure between each phase conductor (U, V, W) and the cable shield/earth using a megohmmeter (e.g., 1000VDC).
Perform an insulation resistance test on the motor windings: Measure between each motor phase winding (U, V, W) and the motor frame (earth) at the motor terminal block.
Visually inspect the motor cable for any visible damage, especially at cable entries to the drive and motor, and inspect cable glands for proper sealing and termination.
Verify the grounding integrity of the motor frame and drive cabinet, ensuring low resistance to the main earth point (e.g., <0.1 Ohm).
