What does 085 mean?

An encoder error has occurred at X6/1 and X6/2 (when C0034 = 1), indicated by a current signal less than 2mA at these terminals. This suggests an open circuit or a faulty current signal encoder.

Common Causes

  • Open circuit or break in the current loop (e.g., 4-20mA) encoder signal cable connected to terminals X6/1 and X6/2.
  • Faulty current output encoder, providing a current signal below 2mA (e.g., internal damage, power supply issue).
  • Incorrect parameter setting for encoder type (e.g., Parameter C0034 not set to 1 for current signal input).
  • High resistance connection or corrosion at terminals X6/1, X6/2, or the encoder side connections.
  • External interference or noise affecting the low-current analog signal loop.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down and lockout the drive. Disconnect the encoder cable from terminals X6/1 and X6/2.

  2. 2

    2. Verify that Parameter C0034 is indeed set to '1' to configure input X6 for current signal feedback.

  3. 3

    3. Measure the current output directly from the encoder (if possible) using an mA meter in series, confirming it is above 2mA.

  4. 4

    4. Using a multimeter, check the continuity of both conductors of the encoder signal cable from X6/1 to the encoder and X6/2 to the encoder.

  5. 5

    5. Inspect terminals X6/1 and X6/2 on the drive, and the corresponding terminals on the encoder, for loose connections, corrosion, or bent pins.

  6. 6

    6. Apply a known 4-20mA current source (simulator) to terminals X6/1 and X6/2 (with C0034=1) to verify the drive's input functionality.
